Led the overall creative strategy and offering of the 1200squad - FADER Media's urban music network of radio and club DJs and Music Supervisors. In this role, I also served as the executive producer of over 50 editions of the iconic Cornerstone Mixtape, including the 200th anniversary edition. As well as other various forms of branded content, utilizing the leverage of influential urban personalities, to connect brands with the culture was a major part of the role.
Cornerstone Mixtape
As the music industry's leading promotional monthly mixtape, I produced over 20 physical editions of the mixtape before transitioning the mixtape to a digital release exclusively on Mixcloud. Each edition of the Cornerstone Mixtape featured some of the most influential DJs in the country. Some of the notable DJs to hold the honor of hosting a Cornerstone Mixtape include: J. Period, Statik Selektah, Tony Touch, and Ted Smooth.
As the head of the 1200squad, I was able to transition the overall creative and strategic approach of the platform. In the 5 years spent working on 1200squad, we were able to take the once private member based record pool, and turn it into a thriving public facing blog that positioned it along the other music discovery platforms. Through editorial, artists interviews and new music reviews, the 1200squad was able to further establish a voice of authority in music and culture.
